The joke was going over people's heads because the old image erased its own premise: the plaque said "THE FOUR LAWS" and gave Law IV the same styling as I–III. If you don't already know Asimov wrote three, there's no joke — it's just a list of four rules.

The fix is the standard sight-gag grammar for "someone amended the sacred text":

  • Plaque: THE THREE LAWS OF ROBOTICS — engraved, official, canon.
  • "THREE" struck out in red marker, "FOUR" scrawled above in handwriting.
  • Law IV is a crooked, taped-on sticky note — visibly an amendment, not a peer.
  • The robot is holding the uncapped red marker. The culprit signs its own crime, politely.

Also a workflow upgrade: the art is now authored as src/hero.svg and rendered with headless Edge, so every word is crisp (the joke is textual — the art doc's own complaint was that image models garble small text) and future changes are one-line edits. Art-direction doc updated with the joke's construction rules so a future regen can't accidentally flatten it back into "The Four Laws".

Kept per the art direction: normal home bed, DEBUG mug, robot on the floor, approved speech line ("Plug a data USB cable into the board."), exact Law IV wording.

Human step after merge: upload docs/images/social-preview.jpg under Settings → General → Social preview (GitHub doesn't pick it up from the repo).

The joke was going over people's heads because the old image erased its own
premise: the plaque said "THE FOUR LAWS" and styled Law IV identically to
I-III -- if you don't already know Asimov wrote three, it's just a list.

The redesign uses the standard sight-gag grammar for "someone amended the
sacred text":

- Plaque reads "THE THREE LAWS / OF ROBOTICS", engraved and official.
- "THREE" struck out in red marker, "FOUR" scrawled above in handwriting.
- Law IV is a crooked, taped-on sticky note in the same handwriting.
- The robot holds the uncapped red marker: the culprit, politely.

The art is now authored as src/hero.svg and rendered with headless Edge, so
text is always crisp (the old workflow's "image models garble small text"
problem is gone) and future edits are one-line changes instead of regens.
Same scene otherwise: coder in a normal bed, DEBUG mug, robot on the floor
with the approved operator-step speech line, exact Law IV wording per the
art direction. Social preview letterboxes the hero on its own frame cream
(2:1, 116 KB, under the 1 MB limit).

Human step remaining: upload docs/images/social-preview.jpg under
Settings -> General -> Social preview.

Comment thread docs/images/README.md
1. **Scene:** Coder sits up in a normal home bed (wood headboard, ordinary duvet), coding on a laptop. Not a hospital bed. Robot stands on the floor beside the bed, never in it.
2. **Style:** Clean modern cartoon (thick outlines, flat colors, soft cel shading). Not photoreal, not soft “AI slop” mascot mush.
3. **Four Laws plaque** (Asimov I–III abbreviated in spirit, plus Bedside IV). Law IV must read exactly:
3. **The plaque IS the joke — construct it so the gag is unmissable.** The plaque is titled **"THE THREE LAWS / OF ROBOTICS"** (engraved, official, aged — Asimov I–III abbreviated in spirit). Then, and this is the joke:

P1 Badge Replace em dashes in added prose

For this repo's prose edits, /workspace/bedside/AGENTS.md says to follow Tig voice mechanics, including “no em-dashes,” and its Definition of done says prose changes prove “no em-dashes.” This added README text introduces em dashes here and in the same added section on lines 41, 44, and 55, so the docs change misses the documented prose gate.
