HealthyScan-App

HealthyScan is a mobile application prototype developed as part of a Final Degree Project. Its goal is to answer:
How can an app help improve nutrition by considering an individual's habits and health status?

The app helps users decide whether supermarket products are suitable for them, taking into account their health conditions and personal habits, aiming to improve nutrition and support overall health and well-being.

##🎨 My Role

This was an individual project, and I was responsible for the design process from research and concept development through to the final interactive prototype.

I worked on:

Methodology

  • Applied a user-centred design approach combined with heuristic evaluation.
  • Conducted qualitative and quantitative research with different user profiles to understand their needs and preferences.
  • Designed the user experience to be intuitive, accessible and aligned with real-world shopping behaviours.

♿ Accessibility & Future Improvements

The redesign process identified opportunities to improve:

  • Colour contrast and visual hierarchy
  • Typography and readability
  • Navigation and touch targets
  • Form usability
  • Keyboard and screen-reader accessibility
  • Responsive layouts
  • Interaction and error feedback

💡 Key Takeaway

HealthyScan gave me practical experience taking a digital product from research and user needs through to UX/UI design, prototyping and usability evaluation.

It also strengthened my interest in combining UX/UI design with frontend development.
