Reviewed replacement for #8, part 10/12. Original contribution: Zedwil / NyleGarcia.

Stack

Depends on #21; base is pr8-09-effects-calibration. Merge the parent first. These are ordered review slices, not independent cherry-picks.

Scope

  • Observe capture byte flow/xruns and actual output links to ALSA sinks; silence samples still count as data.
  • Keep GUI and daemon monitoring observe-only by default. Only daemon --auto-recover enables disruptive remedies.
  • Share capture no-data/xrun recovery accounting, preserve cooldowns across unknown/muted/absent/recreated observations, and bound shutdown/restoration.

Verification

Actual isolated daemon detected a deliberately frozen raw tap while another client continued receiving PCM. Output/module state stayed unchanged and children were reaped. Recovery budget and restoration decisions are regression-tested; physical card cycling was not exercised.

Runtime scenarios were exercised on the integrated stack. Hardware-facing tests do not imply physical USB/phantom-power certification.

Adapt conservative watchdog decisions and diagnostics from PR8; cancel collection and wait for recovery restoration on shutdown. Keep audio remedies and USB diagnostics explicitly opt-in.

Reset sampling continuity rather than attempt budgets when a valid graph omits a watched node. Cover cap and cooldown preservation when the same capture and sink return, and keep monitor tests compatible with Python 3.10.
