Unfortunately this fix just pushes the error down the road:
(gnome-shell:760): libmutter-ERROR **: 20:57:57.317: Failed to start X Wayland: Failed to bind X11 socket: Failed to bind to /tmp/.X11-unix/X49: Read-only file system
A connection to the bus can't be made

Unfortunately this fix just pushes the error down the road:

I don't think the current PR is the right approach either. I've opened the PR: #1422 .
