My name's Michael Letts, but I prefer to be called Mike.
I'm a Brooklyn, New York based software engineer with a background in big data, open source software maintainer in the AWS cloud security space, founder of an open source software organization named 61418, AWS Community Builder, and blogger. I also happen to live with a visual disability called retinitis pigmentosa.

Open source tools which I created have been adopted by teams all around the world, featured in industry leading newsletters, presented at conferences, influenced the introduction of new features in the AWS CLI, and helped me become an AWS Community Builder. These tools enhance botocore, boto3, the AWS CLI, and the general open source AWS Python ecosystem. They leverage modern Python tools like uv and Furo. The official documentation are comprehensive, thoughtful, and beautiful. And the API's are deliberately designed to be highly intuitive and ergonomic.
