flowvid-ffmpeg-android

LGPL FFmpeg audio decoder extension for AndroidX Media3, packaged as an Android AAR. The build enables AC-3, E-AC-3, DTS (dca), MLP and TrueHD audio decoders. It does not enable video decoders or GPL components.

FFmpeg's static libraries are linked into Media3's single libffmpegJNI.so. The AAR contains no separate shared libav*.so files, so it does not collide with FlowVid's libmpv libraries.

The tag-triggered workflow checks out those exact commits, builds all four ABIs, rejects unexpected shared FFmpeg libraries, and publishes a versioned AAR with build-manifest.txt, SHA256SUMS.txt and a GitHub build-provenance attestation. It fills a draft first and publishes only after every asset is present and digest-checked. GitHub Actions dependencies are pinned to full commit SHAs.

The current immutable release is v1.10.1-6. Its AAR SHA-256 is 3d92586fb3c4d2a3551b54396385dd5503ad8a8e115e8d2a2a67fd209cd7f5e9.

Maintainers create a later release by pushing a new tag after reviewing the pinned inputs. The workflow rejects a tag that does not match the configured artifact version.

Usage

Download the AAR from Releases, place it in the Android client's libs directory as flowvid-media3-ffmpeg.aar, and reference it with Gradle:

With Media3's extension renderer mode set to prefer extensions, androidx.media3.decoder.ffmpeg.FfmpegAudioRenderer is selected for supported audio tracks.
