Open-source maintenance

I am a member of Gentleman Programming, where I help maintain Gentle AI and Engram through implementation, code review, triage, and reliability work.

Gentle AI, 5k plus GitHub stars Engram, 5k plus GitHub stars

  • Both projects serve growing developer communities and have earned 5k+ GitHub stars.
  • OpenCode supports my planning, implementation, and review workflow.

AI supports the process; engineering judgment and fundamentals remain essential.

Selected open-source work

  • Gentle AI PR #3164: Made Codex custom-model discovery asynchronous, with bounded CLI probing, safe fallbacks, request tracking, and stale-result rejection to keep the TUI responsive.
  • Gentle AI PR #2845: Centralized review lifecycle decisions in ReviewCore, eliminating CLI and core disagreements that could offer transitions the core would reject.
  • Gentle AI PR #3098: Added privacy-safe defect routing based on verified published fixes, with duplicate detection, regression handling, and fail-closed GitHub mutations.
  • Gentle AI PR #2250: Bounded and separated Git stdout and stderr, preventing trace contamination and unbounded output from corrupting machine-readable results.
  • Gentle AI PR #1588: Added a Windows-safe file and stdin handoff for review artifacts, avoiding fragile PowerShell JSON quoting while enforcing bounded, regular-file inputs.

Engineering principles

  • Clear architecture that makes systems easier to understand and evolve.
  • Maintainability through simple design, readable code, and deliberate review.
  • Continuous learning grounded in hands-on practice.
  • Practical products that solve real needs.
