Onboarding information for the Center for Health Innovation, Research, Action, and Learning (CHIRAL), Bangladesh.
CHIRAL is the research wing of the DeepBio ecosystem (alongside DeepBio Limited and DeepBio Academy). This repository's policies apply to CHIRAL only — see ECOSYSTEM.md for the full picture and what is shared vs. arm-specific.
CHIRAL is organized into units. The policies in /shared are center-wide and
apply to every member. Each unit adds a short overlay in /units for matters
specific to it (tech stack, data types, tools). Where an overlay conflicts with a shared
policy, the shared policy wins unless the director approves an exception.
- Center Guidelines: expectations, communication, meetings, source code, data, and reproducibility.
- Publication & Authorship Policy: authorship criteria, author order, revision responsibilities, participation/attendance rules, and the accountability ladder.
- Recruitment Policy: how Research Assistants and Group Leaders are recruited — required DeepBio Academy course per unit, interview, and selection.
- Data Governance Policy: classification, ethics/consent, storage, de-identification, sharing, and breach handling for health data.
- Good Practices: coding standards, reproducibility, documentation, version control.
- Social Media Policy: expectations for representing CHIRAL online.

To propose a change, submit a pull request. Consider the following goals of the onboarding documents:
- Simple: Use straightforward language and avoid jargon.
- Concise: Each document should be readable in a single sitting.
- Specific: It should be targeted to CHIRAL, Bangladesh.
- Enforceable: Failure to meet expectations should have consequences.
- Living: The documents are expected to evolve over time.
