Hi, I'm Asanga Udugama πŸ‘‹

I am a researcher and educator with the Sustainable Communication Networks (ComNets) group at the University of Bremen, Germany. My work centers on future Internet protocols and the modeling and simulation of communication networks, with a particular focus on Information-Centric / Content-Centric Networking (ICN/CCN), opportunistic and delay-tolerant networking, mobility modeling, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Much of my open-source work is built on the OMNeT++ discrete-event simulator and embedded/IoT platforms. I develop simulation frameworks, protocol implementations, teaching materials, and research datasets. Most of my contributions are published under the ComNets-Bremen organization; a selection is listed below.

Projects and contributions

  • OPS β€” The Opportunistic Protocol Simulator, an OMNeT++-based framework for simulating opportunistic and delay-tolerant networks. One of my most extensive contributions.
  • OPSLite β€” A lightweight opportunistic networking simulator in OMNeT++, offering a simpler alternative to the full OPS framework.
  • ops-on-the-bench β€” Tooling to run OPS simulation campaigns in the cloud and manage large-scale experiments.
  • KeetchiLib β€” A C++ implementation of the Organic Data Dissemination (ODD) model, used as the forwarding library underpinning OPS.
  • inbaverSim β€” An OMNeT++ model framework for simulating Content-Centric Networks (CCN). A core part of my ICN research.
  • inbaverSys β€” A Python-based Content-Centric Networking (CCN) implementation targeting the Internet of Things (IoT).
  • SWIMMobility β€” An implementation of the SWIM (Small Worlds in Motion) mobility model for OMNeT++.
  • TRAILS β€” TRAILS, a trace-based probabilistic mobility model.
  • Mobility-Models β€” Implementations of the CMM and ORBIT mobility models for OMNeT++.
  • MobilityModelCheck β€” A small OMNeT++ model for evaluating and comparing INET-based mobility models.
  • ContactTraceBasedMobility β€” Contact-trace-driven mobility for use within OPS simulations.
  • RIMFading β€” An implementation of the Radio Irregularity Model (RIM) for the OMNeT++ simulator.
  • OppNets-on-LoPy β€” An opportunistic networking implementation for LoPy IoT devices.
  • Epidemic-on-PyCom β€” A Python implementation of Epidemic data dissemination on PyCom hardware using LoRa communications.
  • LoRa-DuCy β€” A Contiki MAC radio duty-cycling protocol adapted for LoRa.
  • Bruit β€” A peer-to-peer notification propagation application for iOS.
  • FRIES β€” A student-friendly extension to the TCP/IP protocol suite, developed for teaching.
  • HOWTOs β€” A collection of how-to guides and documentation for group tools and workflows.
  • NAVEL β€” Training material and prototypes developed for the Logistics Innovation Center.
  • VerZi-Dairy-Goat-Dataset-v1.0.0 β€” A COCO-formatted dataset with keypoint and bounding-box annotations for computer-vision-based detection of aggressive behaviour in dairy goats.
