Independent initiative dedicated to scientific computing, DIY biology, citizen science, and the development of open-source technologies for socio-environmental impact.
Singularity MX is an interdisciplinary research collective focused on creating accessible technological and scientific solutions. Our mission is to drive innovation and democratize knowledge through open science, free technology transfer, and collaborative research.
We operate as an open laboratory where software development, applied artificial intelligence, open hardware, and data analysis converge to address real-world problems in our communities.
Our core research focuses on Open scientific infrastructure for urban environmental and biological observation.
Core idea: To build open systems for observing, measuring, and analyzing urban environmental and biological phenomena using sensors, distributed data, computational analysis, and citizen science.
To achieve this goal, we work on the following research sub-lines:
- Open scientific instrumentation: Development of low-cost and open-source hardware.
- Environmental and geospatial intelligence: Satellite analysis and data modeling.
- Citizen science and distributed networks: Community integration in data collection.
- Urban bio-observation: Biodiversity monitoring in city environments.
- Open scientific computing: Creation of reproducible software, APIs, and pipelines.
- Open science and technology: All our development is auditable, replicable, and free.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration: We believe in the union of engineering, exact sciences, and social impact.
- Accessible education: We promote self-taught learning and knowledge transfer.
- Community impact and commitment: Science must serve the environment where it is developed.
