No consumer loans were being made despite decent demand and healthy bank equity. I uncovered two issues:

  • Credit market clearing (for all loans types) had a units issue that was incorrectly limiting credit supply to a near-zero level
  • Bank parameters defaults were non-sensical, e.g. limiting loan to value ratio to 0.05 for mortgages. I have adjusted these to more logical values but these defaults should of course be adjusted when running the model.

I have corrected the issues and rerun the model successfully. New runs show consumer credit being issues at reasonable levels, and a reasonable proportion of consumer credit demand being met in the credit market.

Plenty of work is still needed e.g. consumer debt falls by several orders of magnitude below initialised levels over the course of the simulation.
