APL387 is redrawn and extended version of Adrian Smith's classic APL385 Unicode font with clean rounded look. It was initially commissioned by Dyalog Ltd to a professional font designer who unfortunately did not fully understand the necessities of a font specifically for APL. Work is now under way to fix remaining issues and make the font as widely usable as possible, slowly adding characters from less known APL dialects and improving glyph consistency. Work has also begun on APL335, a proportional variant of APL387 (much like APL333 is a proportional variant of APL385).
The intent is for these fonts to become part of the identity of APL, much in the same way the glyphs themselves currently are. An APL dialect designer might be relieved to find a font with support for so many potential glyphs, and be free to pick one that isn't widely included in fontfaces, without needing to design it themselves or settle for a font that isn't geared for APL just to have a specific glyph.
