The three syllable term "burnt/off/'rings" appears in the text-only display as "burntoff'rings", no space, with "burnt" running straight into "off...".

I'm assuming "burnt" and "off'rings" are supposed to be two separate words and so to display with a space thus: "burnt off'rings".

The more complicated case would be if the term is supposed to appear hyphenated thus: "burnt-off'rings". For that, is this XML syntax able to specify the two different forms: (a) that interword "burnt-off..." hyphen
(b) the intra-word hyphen within "off-'rings"?

The original text includes the hyphen: 'burnt-off'rings'.

That said, I do need to find a way to preserve the hyphen for the text-only version. Thanks!
