The Invader is a modern recreation and exploration platform for the legendary Texas Instruments SN76477 Complex Sound Generator, the analog sound chip responsible for many of the iconic effects heard in classic arcade games such as Space Invaders, Vanguard, and countless other early electronic machines. Inspired by the original TI demonstration circuit, this desktop synthesizer/noise box exposes nearly every function of the SN76477 through dedicated potentiometers, switches, and patch points, making it easy to experiment with everything from laser blasts and explosions to sirens, engines, and other unmistakably vintage electronic sounds. Designed as both a learning tool and a celebration of the golden age of arcade hardware, The Invader combines faithful analog circuitry with modern PCB design to provide an accessible platform for discovering one of the most distinctive sound chips ever created.
