Capital Markets Jargon Decoder

Jargon is a wall. This is a door.

Why this exists

Every industry protects itself with vocabulary. Capital markets more than most: novation, DvP, corporate actions, golden source, T+1.

This is 229 of those terms decoded into plain language — one italic sentence anyone can understand, plus one more sentence of depth for those who want it. Every single term also gets a full concept page: an analogy, a real worked example, common mistakes, related concepts, and a quiz — 229/229, across all eleven categories.

Business analysts live at the translation layer between business and technology. This tool is that skill, made visible.

What's inside

Eleven categories, spanning the trading lifecycle, the deal-making side of markets, and the psychology behind bad decisions:

Lifecycle · Clearing & Settlement · Instruments · Risk & Compliance · Market Structure · Technology · Investment Banking · Investment Analysis · Behavioral Finance · Economics · Business Strategy

Features: live search across terms and definitions, category filters, a Surprise me button for wandering, a mini-diagram for every single term (look for the ◆ visual badge), a Test me flashcard mode, and bookmarking — save terms and filter down to your own list. 119 terms also carry a plain-spoken analogy and related-concept links right on the card.

Tech

Two self-contained pages, index.html (the library) and concept.html (the deep-dive template). No frameworks, no build step, no dependencies, no API. Vanilla JS. Open either file, it works — even offline.
