vague "Error parsing notmuch response" error when trying to open some mails

I get this when trying to open the attached email (
bower-notmuch-crash.txt) in bower:

Error parsing notmuch response: process returned with exit code 1

I've seen this with other mails too, but haven't noticed if there's a pattern between the "failing" emails. I'm not sure how else to get useful info from bower about what the crash was, it seems to be in notmuch, but maybe even some info from bower about what it was trying to do in notmuch would be helpful for reproducing / reporting a bug to notmuch?

I imported the message into my Maildir folder but I haven't be able to reproduce the error.
