Summary

This ticket retroactively documents the deprecation of seven XBlocks that have been consolidated into openedx/xblocks-extra. No DEPR ticket was filed at the time of archival, so this is created to provide the audit trail per OEP-14.

Each item tracks two steps: Archived and Moved to openedx-unsupported.

Rationale

These XBlocks are no longer independently maintained. They have been consolidated into a single home, openedx/xblocks-extra, to reduce maintenance overhead across many small repositories.

Replacement

The XBlocks are now maintained under openedx/xblocks-extra. Each archived repository's README carries a deprecation notice pointing there.

Deprecation

Each repository has been archived (read-only) with a deprecation notice added to its README pointing to xblocks-extra.

Removal

Six of the seven repositories have already been archived and moved to the openedx-unsupported organization. The remaining repository, xblock-free-text-response, still needs to be archived and moved once it is confirmed ready.

Migration

Translations for the affected XBlocks have been removed from openedx/openedx-translations:

• chore: remove standalone block translation dirs superseded by xblocks-extra openedx-translations#73194
• feat: remove legacy xblock-free-text-response translations openedx-translations#74375

• Filed retroactively — no prior DEPR ticket existed for any of these repositories.
• Remaining outstanding work: archive and move xblock-free-text-response to openedx-unsupported once confirmed ready. Its translations have already been removed (#74375).

Caution

Transifex resource removal still pending. PRs #73194 and #74375 removed the entries from transifex.yml (stops future sync) but do not delete the existing resources on the hosted Transifex project. Per OEP-14, that requires a separate axim-engineering request — still to be filed unless already actioned by a Transifex admin.
