Testing the latest version on different devices

I didnt know where to properly post this so i just took the liberty to put it in a new issue sorry if this isnt the right place for this

Hello, first of all thank you very much for updating the module, i'm about to update Microg on a couple of my devices since the new pre-release version is out and since i'm using the AOSmium Webview which is the closest and mostly somewhat regulary updated alternative to the Mulch Webview (which i was using before), i will now try a newer LSposed version to see if this update the Webview issue related to the 101 API on new LSposed versions that i also faced when i tried a few newer versions of Lsposed thinking the app will still keep working but it didn't (like quite a few other modules as well).

So i will trying this new version on the following devices :

• A phone running a custom rom on Android 11
• A phone running a custom rom on Android 12

I will try to test this also on a phone running a custom rom on Android 10 but it will be tricky because it has a battery issue, so if i manage to boot it up (which i think is still possible hopefully XD) i'll post a comment about it later on. I also saw that you wanted someone to test this on a Nougat device, and i thought i could but the old device i thought i could use was Android 6.0.1 which i don't think we can switch Webview on sorry about that.

At the moment im using the last LSposed Irena version (v1.9.2-7291) where the 1.3 version of this app as well as the other modules are still working (only on the 2 phones i mentioned earlier though), i will post shortly after testing in seperate comments for each devices. Device 1 : SM-A105FN - Android 11 (Success)

The LSposed Framework fork I decided to use is Vector SR which is a more updated fork of Vector, as for how to replaced the LSposed Irena version i had i did the following :

• Uninstalled LSposed Irena Manager app
• Uninstalled LSposed Irena Module from Magisk App (i didnt reboot here because you really dont have to do it yet)
• Installed Vector SR Manager app (which you can extract from the zip file of the module)
• Installed Vector SR Module (zip file) in Magisk
• Rebooted
• Ticked what needed to be enabled in the Vector SR Manager (only Android System was recommended but i ticked System Framework and the AOSmium Webview too just to make sure since this made it work on a troublesome setup i had on another device)
• Rebooted again

Result : The AOSmium Webview was shown as usual in the Webview Implementation options in Developper Options and i can select and use it with no problem whatsoever

Device 2 : SM-G935F - Android 12 (Success)

Your reports are the first real-world confirmations of v1.4 on pre-Android-15 devices (10, 11 and 12), and since Vector SR is libxposed-based, they also confirm the new entry point works on the current API.

You're right about the Android 6 device: the WebView provider-selection mechanism this module hooks (WebViewUpdateService + the provider list) was only introduced in Android 7.0, so on Marshmallow there's simply nothing to hook. Android 7 is the floor for this app.

I've updated the v1.4 release notes to list your confirmed combinations. Thanks again for the time you put into this — reports like this are what keep the compatibility picture accurate.

No worries glad this was helpful, will try to revive an old J5 2015 i have that is already on Android 7 if it works ill try this module on it as well as on other custom roms (if a lineageos variant exist that is) that got the remaining untested Android versions, should i just close this issue right now or leave it incase i manage to test on other android versions and post like earlier (might be a long time before this though the A7 device is semi-dead i think XD).

After reading the above issue I took a stab at trying on my Android 11 setup.

Device: OnePlus 8T - crDroid Android 11 (Success).

Initially I went with Vector, thinking the Vector-SR was a KernelSU-centric thing. AnyWebView 1.4 did not work with that. Other modules seemed to work but maybe not as well as I thought.
Went to Vector-SR and all seems good to go.

Android System Webview is actually Cromite which was installed manually.
LeOSium is from the repo for LeOS, a deGoogled GSI.

As far as older Android, my Android 7 Nougat already has the last supported Mulch. An Oreo setup has the last supported Cromite webview. So no need to test on those unless I was going to do fresh installs.
Assume my other A11 devices will work, will check shortly.

Thanks for testing, and this is a very useful data point — the Vector vs Vector-SR difference has a concrete explanation.

AnyWebView v1.4's modern entry point is compiled against libxposed API 101. Vector 2.0 deliberately implements only API 100 ("the definitive implementation of the API 100 era", per its release notes — API 100 was never published, and 101 introduced breaking changes). Vector-SR v1.0, on the other hand, added API 102 support, which accepts API 101 modules. So the same APK can't load under Vector but works under Vector-SR — this is an API version mismatch, not a bug in either project.

For anyone hitting this: use a framework that implements libxposed API ≥ 101 (Vector-SR, LSPosed 1.11+, etc.), or the module won't load.

I've updated the release notes and README with this framework requirement and your confirmed combination (OnePlus 8T, crDroid Android 11, Vector-SR + Cromite). Thanks again!

Just wanted to hop on here and report that it's working just fine on Android 16 qpr2 LineageOS. I'm rooted with KowSU(version v3.2.5-71) and using Vector(v2.0-3046) I downloaded from actions.

Thanks for the report — this one actually refines the Vector compatibility picture.

You're on Vector canary 3046 (from CI actions), not the Vector 2.0 release. The 2.0 release was deliberately frozen at the last commit before the libxposed API 101 jump ("the definitive implementation of the API 100 era"), while master moved on to API 101 right after — so post-2.0 canary builds implement API ≥ 101 and load AnyWebView v1.4.x fine. That matches your result exactly.

So the precise statement is: Vector 2.0 release = API 100, can't load the module; Vector canary builds = API 101+, work. I've updated the notes accordingly.

Also noted as the first community confirmation on Android 16 (QPR2, LineageOS, KowSU). Thanks!

I also decided to test it on my Sony xz1c running evolution x a15 qpr2. Rooted with KSUN (v3.2.0) also using Vector actions build. Again, it's working, I just needed to tick system framework in lsposed while I didn't need to on LOS 23.2.
