16 by 9 doesn't work on loading zones

I traced the current adaptive-widescreen path and found a likely title-side limitation rather than an OpenGL/render-target problem.

MPH currently widens the DS geometry output on the host side after the game has already decided which rooms, portals, nodes, and objects are visible. There is no MPH-specific patch updating the game's native-aspect frustum/portal visibility calculations to match the wider output.

Loading transitions also use a special connector/room drawing path, so widening the view can expose regions for which the game never submitted geometry at all. That fits the missing side regions in the screenshot better than a framebuffer or scissor failure.

This should also be renderer-independent, so one useful confirmation would be testing the same position with the software renderer versus the compute renderer. If both show the same missing geometry, that would strongly confirm the issue is on the game-side visibility/loading path rather than OpenGL.

The likely long-term fix is to extend MPH's game-side camera/frustum/portal calculations to use the adaptive aspect ratio as well, rather than changing the renderer.

I tried to reproduce this locally and found a very close visual match in Celestial Archives, at the first brown connector in Celestial Gateway.

However, I could not reproduce the widened black/missing region from your screenshot, so I don't want to trace or patch the wrong scene.

Could you provide one of the following?

• the exact room/door where this happens
• preferably a save immediately before the affected transition
• or, if a save isn't practical, the map-visible room name, which side of the door you're coming from, and a short before/during/after video

That should let me reproduce the exact failure and trace the correct visibility/transition path.

v0.4.2-alpha is live now, but it does not include a widescreen visibility/loading-zone fix:

This still needs a precise repro before I patch anything. The useful next item is one of:

• a save immediately before the affected transition
• the exact room / door where this happens
• the map-visible room name, which side of the door you are coming from, and a short before/during/after video

The current suspicion is still that adaptive widescreen is exposing regions the game did not submit because its native room/portal visibility logic has not been widened yet.
