Variables appear unreadable in Robo game

Upon playing the game, sometimes it switches into a "glitch" modus where subscripts are frequently shown as blank rectangles instead of subscripts. The \1 subscript is always affected, while higher numbers are usually fine, but with occasional (level-dependent) exceptions. Screenshot below displays the issue.

The device affected was an Android 13 smartphone running the game in Samsung Internet browser. So far I've found it impossible to recover the display once the game has switched to this glitch mode. Things I've tried include: changing the browser and/or game settings to "desktop" display mode; reloading/refreshing the page. Issue persists after temporarily losing connection with the server. After re-visiting the website after a longer break (and losing progress) the issue was temporarily gone.

Sounds like an issue that will be near impossible to debug. Could you include a screenshot of what the page looks like in your browser when it's working?

(Wild guess: the browser starts off using some built-in font and downloads our fonts in the background. Once they are loaded, it turns out they don't display properly.)

Android having problems with Unicode display isn't surprising, but it's indeed curious that it's suposedly working occationally.

One could investigate in the browser console, especially under "Network" how long it takes to download "JuliaMono". Could be interesting if it works again of the cached filedownload of the font is removed, but I dont know where to do that and you dont want to delete everyrhing including localstorage

Anyways, it will be tricky to reproduce, but please add further details if you keep having the issue

I have not tried completely resetting the game yet. The issue persists. Have this gem re: "occasionally":

The unicode characters appear unreadable in one step, and readable in the next. "use _" or "intro _" fixes it when it's like this. Maybe it has to do with the amount of problematic characters?
(Level is Mono-3).

Doesn't seem to me that JuliaMono is used in these screenshots. The "ℕ" is completely off, and the "a" also looks different to me. @joneugster But is JuliaMono even supposed to be loaded in the current live version? I only see JuliaMono glyphs in the dev version.

The fonts in eeveegen's screenshot look different from either of these, so I suppose they are some system/browser fonts.

You're right, the live version doesn't have the JuliaMono font included, my bad
