Issue
After running the initial setup command:
/bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/iamgerwin/dotfiles/main/setup.sh)"
Custom shortcuts (aliases) are not available for use in the terminal immediately after installation completes, despite the setup script successfully installing the dotfiles.
Current Behavior
Users cannot use shortcuts like:
dotfiles - Navigate to dotfiles directory
ua - Update all packages
- Other configured aliases and functions
These shortcuts only become available after manually reloading the shell configuration with source ~/.zshrc or opening a new terminal session.
Expected Behavior
Shortcuts should be available for immediate use following installation without requiring manual shell reload, improving the first-time user experience and confirming successful installation.
Suggested Solution
The setup script should automatically reload the shell configuration (source ~/.zshrc) at the end of installation, or provide clear instructions for the user to do so and verify that shortcuts are working.
