Some CMS datasets are used for unit tests. It seems that a general pattern is HC-CMSSW, e.g. /GenericTTbar/HC-CMSSW_7_0_4_START70_V7-v1/GEN-SIM-RECO. These datasets can be excluded from data-mining, but it requires code changes and regeneration of all dataframes.
