Confused by the different chrome on screen when go from opening/landing dashboard to login

I don't understand what this issue is saying. What do you think should change about the login screen, just making the email address / password entry wider? I'd be fine with a little bit wider, but I don't think there's inherently wrong with the screen as is.

It feels like a different website - menu disappears, help footer goes away. I think this reduces trust. The width is a minor aspect of it but it's the first thing you notice. That said, width does change dynamically on other screens too. Maybe making that fixed or only changing at certain viewport sizes would solve that.

I think we disagree here; pretty much every popular site I can think of does this pseudo-modal screen for logging in. As long as the branding is clear and consistent (which I agree it could be better, i.e. button and font colors), I don't think it reduces trust at all.

1. All of the example links still keep very clear brand continuity across the pages, which ours does not.
2. They all have very busy landing pages. Ours is very simple, and the chrome we're turning off is very minimalist and might be helpful at the login step, which is where we might get some drop-off (help email and phone number, e.g.)
3. I also suspect there's a different reason for these minimalist pages: they have to present a unified single-signin experience across many different properties. We don't have that same problem to solve.

I think we can easily meet in the middle here though by restoring the header and footer, and keeping it looking modal with appropriate white space and by centering that div with the login form.
