At higher resolutions, LOD models are more noticeable than they are on original hardware. If the distance from the camera before the LOD models come in could be adjusted it would better hide the effect.
Alternatively, with how much stronger hardware is now maybe looking into a way to toggle the LOD off outright would work as well.
