Decide and document the project Code of Conduct #35

Description

@sri-rang

Problem

Kastword accepts public contributions but states no behavioral expectations and offers no private route for conduct concerns.

Expected outcome

The project records an explicit Code of Conduct decision and, if adopted, provides clear expectations and a monitored private enforcement channel.

Scope

  • Decide whether to adopt a Code of Conduct.
  • Record the decision and rationale.
  • If adopted, add an appropriate policy and private reporting process.
  • Ensure GitHub recognizes the document.

Non-goals

  • A broad governance framework.
  • Publishing an unwilling maintainer personal address.
  • Promising unsupported response capabilities.
  • Resolving individual reports in this issue.

Acceptance criteria

  • The decision and rationale are documented.
  • If adopted, the policy defines behavior, scope, reporting, responsibilities, and consequences.
  • If adopted, a tested private contact has a consenting owner.
  • GitHub recognizes the adopted document.
  • Copied policy attribution and licensing are preserved.
  • Contributor documentation links to the result.

Dependencies and risks

A policy should not be adopted without someone able to receive sensitive reports.

Deduplication

No Kastword issue currently covers this decision.
