I am experiencing a recurring issue with my K2 Pro that has continued across multiple firmware updates.
The problem occurs approximately once every three prints, usually during the final cleanup stage after a print, when the printer purges the remaining filament and attempts to retract/unload it.
Problem Description
During the cleanup/unloading process, the printer completely removes the filament from the extruder, but the filament mechanism continues rotating in the reverse direction, as if it still believes filament is present and needs to be retracted.
It continues doing this until an error appears on the screen.
The issue then persists even if I try to load filament again. When I insert the filament, the printer sometimes continues attempting to rotate in the reverse direction instead of feeding the filament normally.
Current Workaround
The only way I have found to recover the printer is:
- Turn the printer completely off.
- Manually push the filament through the entire filament path.
- Turn the printer back on.
- After restarting, the filament loading function works normally again.
This workaround temporarily fixes the problem, but the issue keeps returning.
Firmware History
This issue was already occurring two firmware updates ago.
I installed the previous firmware update, but the problem remained.
I have now installed the latest firmware update released today, and unfortunately the exact same issue is still occurring.
Because the problem has persisted across multiple firmware versions, I believe there may be an underlying issue with the filament detection, extruder/CFS mechanism, or the unloading/retraction logic.
What I Would Like
I would really like this issue to be investigated and permanently fixed.
The fact that the printer continues running the retraction mechanism after the filament has already been completely removed makes me suspect that the printer is incorrectly detecting the filament state or that the unloading sequence is getting stuck.
Please let me know if you need any logs, videos, error codes, or additional information from my printer. I can provide them.
I would appreciate a proper solution rather than having to power-cycle the printer and manually push filament through the entire system every time this happens.
