Theoretically, it should be possible to implement up to 8 channel between the DSP2 and the i.MX25 in both directionsby going 192kHz (similarly to how the Ultranet works).

This would have, however a major disadvantage: Both, the "spdif" connection between DSP2 and the AES/EBU output share a clock (which I think comes from the FPGA).

So it would probably be possible to go into 196kHz sampling rate and by doing this transfer 4x2 channels (if you would implement a custom kernel driver and modify the DSP2 code, obviously) but you would lose the AES/EBU output @ 48kHz. (Or you would have to resample to 196KHz in DSP2 which would probably be pretty resource heavy?)
