This thread will be updated as Neon OS Images are released for the Mycroft Mark 2

Updated Neon image is available on 2222.us(~1.7GB)

Changes:

• Duplicated playback intent error is resolved
• Issue with network setup missing options at first boot is resolved
• Device restart is fixed to properly restart Mark2 devices instead of just shutting down
• SJ-201 Microphone configuration is changed to improve voice recognition

Other Notes:

• Connecting an external drive may cause issues at boot; unplugging non-boot devices when powering on the device will resolve this
• Some UI elements are low contrast. The default theme will be changed in an upcoming release
• Non-SJ-201 Audio devices require manual configuration
• wifi-connect is no longer working and has been disabled
• Check out our continually improving documentation that is being updated as questions arise
• Existing installations may be updated by following these instructions in our documentation
• Setup skill is still disabled, but will be replaced in an upcoming release with language selection
• Core update checks currently only happen when requested, a future update will do this in the background and provide notifications

An updated Neon image is available on 2222.us (~=1.7GB)

Changes:

• Update checks now happen at startup and will create a notification that can be tapped to start an update
• The update process has been improved to include configuration changes and other OS-level updates
• Skills have been updated to address user feedback
• Improved skill loading now accounts for internet connection requirements
• There is now an intent to "create new boot media", which will create a clean boot drive if a second USB storage device is connected.
• All dependencies have been updated to stable releases
• Default color scheme has been updated for better contrast
• Menu labels have been enabled be default for clarity

Other Notes:

• This release is based on ovos-core 0.0.6
• Audio configuration is updated to support generic (non-SJ201) audio devices. This has yet to be tested.
• Users have reported boot issues with other USB drives attached; unplugging non-boot devices when powering on the device will resolve this

• Setup skill is still disabled, but will be replaced in an upcoming release with language selection

• Includes a released neon-core version

Other Notes:

• This is the first Neon OS release using a NeonCore Release. Moving forward, alpha versions will opt-in and updates will default to stable versions
• This release is based on ovos-core 0.0.6

• Enables downgrading from a beta version to the previous release version

Changes:

• Includes updated Linux kernel (5.15.92) with SquashFS support
• Updated to use a SquashFS partition with separate partitions for user overlay and swap
