Hi,

I'm unable to run DisplayDeck v0.5.0 on my machine. The app launches and immediately closes with no window, no error message, and no system tray icon.

Steps to reproduce:

• Download DisplayDeck.exe from the v0.5.0 release
• Double-click or run as administrator
• Nothing happens

Any idea what could cause this silent crash? Happy to provide more logs if needed.

Hi, thanks for reporting this.

That sounds like DisplayDeck is crashing very early during startup, before the main window or tray icon is created. The most likely cause is an unhandled startup error while reading settings or detecting displays on your system.

Could you please try these checks?

1. Run it from PowerShell so we can see whether Windows prints an error:

cd "$env:USERPROFILE\Downloads"
.\DisplayDeck.exe

2. Check whether a settings file was created:

Test-Path "$env:APPDATA\DisplayDeck\settings.json"

3. If it exists, try resetting it:

Remove-Item "$env:APPDATA\DisplayDeck\settings.json" -Force

Then run DisplayDeck again.

4. If it still closes immediately, please check Windows Event Viewer:

Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application

Look for an Error entry for DisplayDeck.exe or .NET Runtime, then send me the details.

I’m going to add startup crash logging in the next build so this kind of issue creates a clear log file instead of closing silently.

Hi, I'm obviously not OP but I was looking for a replacement for my current display profile switching solution and ran into the same issue: no window, tray icon or error message.

Windows' Event Log logs the following, but I was unable to find the referenced .dll in this repository and I don't know enough about C# to compile this project myself.

Description: A .NET application failed.
Application: DisplayDeck.exe
Path: C:\Users<...>\DisplayDeck.exe
Message: The application to execute does not exist: 'C:\Users<...>\DisplayDeck.dll'.
