<small>O modelo milenar de gamelão, uma orquestra de percussões tradicional da cultura indonésia, é na Casa da Música palco de uma inovação única: ao visitante é dada a oportunidade de explorar, por via remota, alguns dos módulos deste impressionante grupo instrumental, uma obra de arte delicada e valiosa.
Graças a robots criados para este gamelão, qualquer pessoa pode viver esta experiência. Graças a um processo tecnológico de manipulação simples, tornou-se possível a qualquer pessoa explorar, por controlo remoto, alguns módulos de gamelão. Além de colocada à disposição do visitante da Casa, esta aplicação passou a contar em intervenções artísticas, integrando, via online, concertos feitos em locais diferentes e em simultâneo.


O Gamelão Robótico foi inicialmente concebido para cidadãos com mobilidade reduzida que participaram em espectáculos do Serviço Educativo

<small>At Casa da Música, the ancient gamelan, a traditional Indonesian percussion orchestra, is equipped with a unique innovation: the visitor is given the opportunity to explore, remotely and in real time, some of the individual components of this impressive instrumental assemblage, a work of art both valuable and delicate. Thanks to specially-designed robots, created specifically for this gamelan, anyone can experience its beautiful sounds first-hand. Thanks to a technological process of simple manipulation, it became possible for anyone to explore, by remote control, some gamelan modules. In addition to made available to the visitors, this application is used on artistic interventions, integrating, via online, concerts in different places simultaneously.

Incidentally, the Robotic Gamelan was originally designed for people with reduced mobility participating in Educational Service’s performances.
<br/>This set-up, developed by Rui Penha, Miguel Ferraz and José Luís Azevedo is located in the Renaissance Room (Sala Renascimento) and may be visited free of charge upon request at the ticket-office.
