Mobile uploads are significantly slower than desktop uploads

The upload performance on mobile browsers is consistently worse than on desktop.

Using the same Wi-Fi network and uploading the same file, desktop clients are able to sustain much higher upload throughput, while mobile clients upload noticeably slower.

This has been reproduced across multiple devices and browsers, including Chrome on Android and Safari on iOS.

Steps to reproduce

• Connect a desktop and mobile device to the same network.
• Open AngaDrive V3 on both devices.
• Upload the same large file (500MB+).
• Compare time taken to upload

Expected behavior
Uploads on mobile should achieve speeds comparable to desktop, allowing for normal hardware differences.

Actual behavior
Mobile uploads are consistently and significantly slower than desktop uploads.

Did some research on this, it turns out that the same upload algorithm that makes AngaDrive incredibly fast on desktop is unfortunately causing slowdowns in mobile environments.

This is not intended behaviour; it’s a bug caused by an oversight on my end, and a fix is being worked on in this branch.

AngaDrive heavily compresses and parallelizes upload chunks, which works extremely well on desktop but can overwhelm the more constrained CPU and memory environment of mobile browsers.

There’s also some additional slowdown on my end due to an issue with my internet, I pay Airtel for a 1 Gbps connection but have recently been getting only 50–100 Mbps. I’ve been trying to resolve this and it's been a back and forth between me and customer support, but it’s been frustrating. Regardless, the mobile upload issue is a genuine problem, and I intend to address it properly in AngaDrive V3.1 by December 2026 with a new, mobile-specific upload algorithm.
